The home plate is a pentagon-shaped rubber slab with two sides measuring 8.5 inches (21.59 centimeters) and three sides measuring 12 inches (30.48 centimeters). The corners of the plate are formed by the intersection of the two shorter sides and the three longer sides.
Home plate is positioned at the center of the infield, precisely at the intersection of the foul lines. It serves as the starting and ending point for the batter and the base runner.
