Position:  General Manager

General Functions:  The General Manager has overall responsibility for effectively managing all facets of Valley Athletics to include customer satisfaction, effective recruitment and selection, proper training of staff, employee personnel issues, sales & membership solicitation, facility cleanliness while ensuring the club is achieving projected membership/sales goals as well as all other establish responsibilities.  Provides the strategic direction of the facility and works closely with department directors to achieve goals.

Major Responsibilities:

Management Duties:

  • As a facility is the overall manager who administers policies and procedures.
  • Properly manage and maintain operational budget with Ownership.
  • Control payroll cost to fall within projected budget.
  • Audit and approve submission of payroll.
  • Responsible for overseeing the sales process and systems.
  • Manage, monitor and evaluate the performance of department directors
  • Monitor hiring, training and scheduling of all staff
  • Be able to train and mentor subordinates who can then be considered for promotion to management level positions when the need arises.
  • Communicate with management and department staff through staff meetings.
  • Properly delegate, monitor and evaluate specifically assigned responsibilities of department staff through the department manager.
  • Responsible for managing disciplinary actions involving employees.
  • Responsible for monitoring all incident reports filed involving members and staff.
  • Oversee maintenance of inventory levels of office and retail supplies.
  • Submit all new hire and termination information.
  • Work with the team for Social Media and Marketing
  • Manage Sound System, Towel Supplies, Cleaning Contract and Utilities Management.

Operational Duties:

  • Provide and maintain the highest level of customer service through personal actions and development of staff.
  • Provide effective decision-making regarding customer service issues.
  • Plan and promote special events/membership campaigns.
  • Inspect facility daily for cleanliness.
  • Responsible for ensuring the facility is clean and operationally sound.
  • Ensures the functionality of equipment.

    SHIFTS: Part-time.  10-15 hours/week to start.  Ideal candidate will be able to work shifts that fall between 3pm-10pm weeknights, and 6am-5pm weekends.

     

    JOB SUMMARY: The Front Desk Rep is the lead customer service contact for all members, guests, or prospects. The Front Desk Rep will build rapport with members, give tours of the club to guests, sell memberships based on the need of the guest, answer phones and all billing questions, reserve tennis courts, and help keep the club clean.  The front desk rep will be expected to know all pricing and amenities of our membership options, personal training packages, tennis, and additional programs.  Starting your fitness career at our front desk is a great way to learn all aspects of our club and could lead to more opportunities within our club for the right individual.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Greets and checks in all members and guests
    • Sells all products and services
    • Answers and directs all incoming phone calls
    • Fields all member complaints and concerns
    • Performs opening and closing procedures for the club if assigned those shifts
    • Responsible for keeping check-in desk and facility clean, neat, and orderly including bathrooms, locker rooms and fitness areas
    • Attends departmental meetings
    • Maintains professionalism when not assisting members; avoids eating, sitting, reading, Internet surfing, or any other activities that are not work-related
    • Creates the "First Impression"
    • Other duties as assigned

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Must have previous customer service experience
    • Must be highly motivated, outgoing, and energetic
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Health and fitness should be a passion and an important part of your life
    • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi task
    • Must be able to show initiative and go above and beyond for members
    • Must be able to remain calm and professional when fielding complaints
    • Team player (helping cover other shifts if needed, light cleaning tasks, etc.)
    • An understanding of health club operations

    REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Must be a High School Graduate
    • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (must be obtained within 60 days of hire)
